It goes without saying, this pandemic is scary, and it is starting to affect Australian businesses in a myriad of ways.
Businesses and in some cases, entire towns/ cities/ provinces around the world are in lock down severely affecting the supply distribution of most overseas manufacturedproducts and it is simply naïve to think it will not have a flow on effect to you and me.
From food markets to public transport to airports to hospitality companies are being forcibly closed by Local and National authorities, while Australia has thus far been lucky enough to escape these activities, but it raises the very real possibility of “what if?”
What if your business was forcibly closed? What if public transport companies were affected? What if (god forbit!!) the coffee shop was closed?
Consulting IT have always been at the forefront of the “what if” scenarios, IT redundancy and multi-site backups have always been a key consideration in every aspect of business. In every aspect of our delivery Consulting IT do not cut corners, we do everything with the thought process of not “what if” was to occur … but more-so “when” it will happen. This could be called a somewhat of a pessimistic view, but we are always building a contingency plan and is this that is at the forefront of our networking and infrastructure design and support.
Backup and Disaster Recovery is a standard business operation we clearly endorse and practice but … “what if” Consulting IT has to evacuate the office??
Example 1) The Brisbane floods is a classic example of business continuity at its absolute finest amongst an unfolding in real time disaster.
Example 2) Anyone else remember the scare tactics of the Commonwealth Games?? We were all warned that roads/ suburbs/ motorways/ businesses would be closed or severely affected, the state were advised to “stay away and take leave if possible” because of the predicted chaos.
Consulting IT and our clients were not in the slightest bit effected by either of the above scenario’s nor the possible repercussions of a temporary relocation of our business or our clients for whatever reason.
Why was Consulting IT not effected?? Well, it is because we take our own advice; we promote and actively practice what we preach and very simply because it works!!
We can mobilise our entire operations for all staff to work from home (or the coffee shop providing it isn’t closed), staff will continue to provide outstanding service, they will continue to work on your business remotely so effectively that you probably wouldn’t even notice that we are not in the office!
The million-dollar questions for everyone to consider are these:
- Are you prepared?
- Is your business continuity plan in place?
- Do you have BOTH a backup and a Disaster Recovery plan in place?
To discuss successful partnerships and how engaging Consulting IT to maintain your IT infrastructure will reduce your:
- Staff downtime
- Expenditure
- Stress
- Exposure and Risk
All the while increasing and actioning:
- Awareness
- Business Continuity Plans
- Backup and Disaster Recovery
- Auditing and Compliance
